Our Wild Weekend

Our weekend was busy to say the least, hence the weekend post on Tuesday.
Thursday night, I had to go get my nails done for the wedding. Jackson stayed home and held down the fort.  While I was gone, someone hit an AT&T pole and knocked out the phone and internet for our area.  So I couldn't get ahold of my parents and was panicking. I went from the nail salon to Kroger for poster board and markers for baseball signs, went to check on my parentals, and came home.  We decompressed, I finally ate a bowl of Cheerios for dinner, and we made baseball signs for the weekend games.

Friday, I had my oldest best's rehearsal dinner for her wedding. We had a blast. We ate delicious Maggianos, and enjoyed the beautiful weather.  It was also where the seven things (that will go wrong on your wedding day) began. I don't believe in too many wedding superstitions, but that is one that never fails.  While rehearsing, we figured out quickly that wedges and heels were not going to work with the unsteady rocks we were standing on, so one of the bridesmaids decided to try on her dress with her sandals to make sure it wasn't too long.  No big deal until we tried to get her out of the dress. It was a cheap zipper that had gotten bent somehow, and it was looking as if she would have to sleep in it.  After 20 minutes of trying to unzip it, she grabbed the pocket knife and ripped the seam between the zipper and the dress. We secretly sent it home with the groom's mom to sew back.
Saturday, Jackson and I both had whirlwind days.  I got up early, pampered my bride, went for coffee, and headed to Lebanon to start our day.  Jackson, on the other hand, got up early, went to walk my parents' dog because they were in Chattanooga for my Sister's graduation from college.  He then went to pick up my medicine and headed out to the baseball game for our friends' awesome son.
He then headed to the wedding where he proceeded to wink me down the aisle, and dance with me all night.  I danced with people I hadn't seen since high school and loved it all! I hope she loved her wedding, because it was so much fun.

Sunday, we slept until 11AM, went to see my mom for Mother's Day, and spent the rest of the night relaxing. :)

I hope your weekends were awesome!

Welcome, Sweet Baby

Monday, I had a trip for work to Knoxville. No big deal, right?
Right. Until my best friend texted "Thunder Cats Are Go" which, for all you Juno fans, meant it was baby day! They were going to take her Wednesday for sure until Lou's blood pressure got too high.  I bawled my eyes out because it was supposed to be an overnight trip... enough so that I got to come home. :) I pulled into the parking garage and received the text from Jackson saying she was here! I rushed into the waiting room just in time to see Heath showing the video of when they showed Lou the baby.  Tears, again.
After an hour and a ballin' grilled cheese from the hospital cafeteria, we got to see her.... and hold her! :)

Welcome to the world, sweet baby. I am already head over heels for you and can't wait to see you change the world.

Friendsgiving 2.0

(See Friendsgiving 2014)
This weekend we had our 2nd Friendsgiving. Jackson and I hosted it in our new apartment.  We had so much yummy food; I made the same macaroni from last year minus the bread crumbs. So much better!! Since last year, Hamlin got engaged, we subtracted a crappy boyfriend, and added a Feeny.  This year, we spent hours playing Cards Against Humanity and laughing so hard our stomachs hurt.

Friday!

Dear Packing, you and I are not and have never been friends. I honestly am a little irritated knowing we'll be here again in a few more years.

Dear Feeny, it's not good to take mommy's earrings and scare everyone into thinking you've eaten them. Also, thank you for snuggling all day Monday.  It was my favorite thing.

Dear Monday, thanks for being so productive. I made a doctor's appointment, went to the bank to replace my lost debit card (shhh....), packed and cleaned and even found time for a nap. :)

Dear Hiney Home 2.0, please treat us as kindly as Hiney Home 1.0.  We loved our first home, and I'm a little uneasy about moving away from it.

Dear Bestie, Thanks for accidentally matching me to work on Thursday. ;) It was a great laugh that we all needed after the week we had.

Wedding Festivity Weekend

My weekend was full of finishing up the details for my oldest best friend's engagement party (see inspiration post here)! If you live in Nashville, you know it was cold Saturday night. When we planned this shindig, we didn't expect that at all! It's usually still hot this time of year.  Regardless, it was so much fun,and so worth all of the hard work!

Weekending!

Happy Monday morning, friends!

As you read this, I'm still snoozing because having Mondays off work means no alarm. (insert praise hands here).

Friday, I worked like normal.  Note: When someone asks you if you want to go to a Train concert because they were given tickets? you accept gladly. Friday night I got to see Train, the Fray, and Matt Nathanson do their thing! It was a great concert!

Saturday, we awoke rather early to head to the church to set up for vacation bible school.  It was a day of skits, decorations, and cutting out lesson plans and buletin board letters. Saturday evening, we joined my parents and sister (who is finally back from her London adventure) for a Mexican date. My best friend and her husband needed to come do laundry, so while they did, we played games. There's a reason this was so funny.

Sunday, we had church, lunch, and two minutes to breathe before we were back to church for Vacation Bible School.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!!

Life Lately

I feel like more often, I'm writing "catch up" posts... what's been going on lately.  Mostly because days dont amount to enough for a post all on their own.  And we've literally been running ragged these last few weeks and weekends.

We recently had a bowling date with our sister in law and friends from church. I'm so terrible, but it is really a lot of fun.

Sunday, we woke up, went to church, got lunch, went to Lifegroup, and went to a graduation party.  I was gone from 9am to close to 6pm.

We're back on our summer schedule of four 10-hour days a week and I have Mondays off again.  This Monday, I went to Dad's to hang out with my sister before she leaves for London on Friday.  Lucky duck.

Nashville summer has been bearable lately.  Like windows up napping in the storm kind of good weather. If the storms wouldn't make life so humid, it'd be even better.

We had a milkshake date with my best friend and Jackson's best man. She's going to Wisconsin for the summer. He's going to Mississippi for forever. So we had a "farewell please come home soon we don't do well without you" date.... that lasted until Midnight.... and I had to be up at 5AM the following day.... today.... I'm dying. haha.

Jackson and I are taking a trip this weekend to reconnect. Just the two of us.  The Little Hineys are taking on Holiday World this Saturday.... and I am pumped.

Weekending!

Our weekend was such a busy one. Like I'm sitting at my desk about to fall asleep. Happy Monday to all, and to all, a four day week.

Friday night, the plan was to go get dinner, do groceries, and come home to rest.  What actually happened was I got in a funk about not having time to rest, we sat in the car talking for an hour, got groceries, and ordered pizza.

Saturday, I woke up and went to decorate the gym for the Golden Age Banquet. The theme was the Wonderful World of Disney. So Naturally.....

Jackson dressed up like Goofy, and Lou dressed up like Elsa.  It was great!

Sunday was also busy.  Church, lunch, hanging with Jackson's parents, going home to clean and relax, going back to church and having a bonfire until 10:30.

I hope your weekend was just as full and wonderful!!

Weekending!

Our weekend was one for the books for sure, mostly thanks to the weather I hated so much last week!
I got off work early on Friday because of the incoming snow. It didn't look bad, so I decided to go to Dad's.  Bad call. I got most of the way there before I started sliding on the ice that hadn't melted.  The traction control in my new car (and this being the first winter I've had it) scared me to death.  It starting beeping and flashing and my car came to a complete stop. I finally found the clear road again and got all the way to Dad's before getting stuck in the ice on their street. My car wouldn't drive, it wouldn't reverse, and it was awful. I finally found the yard and was able to park there. I was there for an hour or so and for some reason I decided to look out the window. I couldn't tell where there was street and where the ice was, so I went ahead and came home before it got worse. Jackson's best man came over and we decided to sled down our awesome hills in our apartment complex.
You can see our tracks from our sledding.
Look how small the jungle gym is for reference on how high up we were.
Aside from the awesome bruise on my hip and hitting a bump that made me flip and fall on my head (and Jackson's awful back pain), it was the coolest thing I've ever done! Jackson and Byron got some pretty awesome air, too.  Byron got stuck here because of the ice and snow, so he stayed over! Can we just talk about how much more fun sleepovers are when you're adults and it's your best friend? They're the bomb, in case you've never tried it.
Saturday, I got up early because it was Byron's birthday and made bacon, omelettes, and cinnamon rolls! He stayed long enough to watch the Vanderbilt basketball game which was enough time for the rain to turn the ice to sludge.  I ventured out to the grocery after he left because we were out of everything (milk, eggs, bread... snow essentials, you know!). I also ran into my first set of Girl Scouts and scored some Trefoils. After being caught in a tsunami, I made it home to watch Despicable Me and Wreck It Ralph.
Sunday, church was delayed because the parking lot was still an ice rink. We went to church at 11, went to Jackson's parents' house, then came home. We scored free pizza for dinner, and let's be real, that's the best kind of pizza. We settled in to watch The Walking Dead and The Oscars and then turned in early.

Schools are out again today, so I'm rolling into work late (because it's our company policy... not because I have little'ns). Here's to kicking this week in the butt!

Rainy Days and Mondays

Our weekend was so busy. Like, it's Monday and my head is on my desk because I'm in a state of exhaustion I've never been in before. I think.

Friday, we worked and came home to a date night. Penn Station and a little Breaking Bad... great date night if I do say so myself.

Saturday, I spent my day at my Daddy's house playing with all of my pets that I left behind.

Meanwhile, Jackson was sitting in a field with a gun doing what he loves to do.

Saturday evening, we had a date with one of my best friends from high school at Rosepepper.

Sunday, we churched, we ate, we grocery shopped, we ate some more, we watched the Golden Globes, and we slept. Now it is Monday, it's raining, and I feel like everyone is ready to rip everyone's head off.  Welcome back, eh?

What to do When Your Best Friend Tells You She's Pregnant

Well, first thing's first... you smile uncontrollably because you're so doggone excited for her, and your eyes fill up with tears because you just can't control how happy you are.

Next, you start to reassess your life. I mean, you're 23 for Goodness' sake! What are you even doing with your life right now? sleeping, buying furniture to organize all 631 of the square feet you rent, and monogramming every object you own? Get it together!!

You ask your husband how he feels about it.  When he tells you he thinks it could work and you may jump on the baby train, too, you'll die.  Literally die.  But then, allow your brain to mess everything up and bring you back to reality.  Remind your husband that you can barely afford to move, just bought a new car, and would like to have some money saved for maternity leave.  When he agrees, get mad at him because you wanted him to convince you it would all work out.  Then, try to convince him that you're managing your debt quite well and have money left out of all of your paychecks.  Um hello, you don't even use all of our grocery budget as it is. When he tells you it's not going to work, and then proceeds to tell you how he is going to pursue a raise at work by getting his commercial driver's license, don't forget to let your impatience and your fear of being left behind and turn that into a "but when" issue.  He will get frustrated and tell you he's doing all that he can do, and that it will come in God's time... not because everyone around you is doing it. Last but not least, go to bed upset at your husband, and wake up the next morning realizing what a brat you were. That's the most important step.

LouBoo, you're going to be a great mommy, and I can't wait to meet Baby P!

Life Lately

I know, I know, I'm back to slacking.  I didn't have any more Christmas posts in mind, and life isn't containing a whole lot more than work, home, monogramming, and sleeping.  So here are little chunks of our lives lately....

Roomie Christmas was great on Friday, full of laughs and Jeni's ice cream!

Jackson's brother and his wife will be here this evening from Hawaii! They're spending two weeks here before he goes back to deployment and she starts back medical school.

There are monograms galore in our home.  I've pretty much been running my own little business this Christmas, and it's really exciting.

I am in need of a haircut, but can't figure out what I want. I don't want any of my length taken off, but I want layers and my swoopy bangs. To the depths of pinterest I go!

I got to spend time with my sweet Nana this week decorating her tree and helping her get ready for Christmas next week.

We got some of my bridal portraits back, and I'm so so excited to get the rest!

Also, I have been a college graduate for a whole year... and I miss it so so much. :(

I started my promotion on Monday. I'm now an HR Generalist.  It's pretty much what I've been doing, except now I'm getting paid to do it. Score for the home team!

We are so addicted to this game called "Trivia Crack".... It is like trivial pursuit! It's so much fun to play without having to get out a board.

There are piles of laundry, stray shoes, and a sink full of dishes waiting on me this evening.  Tis the season for being too busy to do housework!!
