Thankful (Round 1)

Each day last week, I've challenged myself to find five things I'm thankful for!
I highly recommend doing so - it brings a silver lining to a rough day! :)
So does taking pictures with a dog. Preferrably your dog, but any dog will do. ;)

My sweet husband who works overtime
A job that lets him work overtime
A new car that is dependable
 My dad's humor and kindness
A small home with not too much to clean

Being able to stay on Mom's insurance so we can save
Jackson's benefits being affordable and really great
A kitchen I get to make a mess in when I cook
My bed and a full night's rest
The covenant of marriage and what it means to us

The defrost setting
Quality, face to face time with people.
Friends who agree that playing hide and seek in a dark church is the bomb
coffee
Sweaters

Netflix binges
Vacation days for my birthday and the whole week of Christmas
A husband who tries
Space heaters
Naps

A boss who is human and understands life
Pinterest
Our brother and sister-in-law coming home for Christmas
Getting to see my sister here and there when she's home from college
The blessing of being able to go to college

My embroidery machine that allows me to add some change to our pockets
Checklists
Glasses for days when I don't want to wear makeup

Friday!!

This week flew by. Like, yesterday was Monday for me. This weekend is going to fly, too, because I'll be so busy with helping my sister move into her dorm, Dad's birthday, etc.  But hey, I'm 100% looking forward to it.

1.
Monday, I went to my parents' house to hang with my sister before she moves back to Chattanooga for school.  I snapped this picture with my sweet fur-nugget.

2.
My parents also have these little stray babies at their house.  I'm working on socializing them as much as possible so they don't grow up mean and wild like their mama. There are two black and white ones, one yellow, one grey, and one solid black one.  They were only three days old on Monday!!

 3.
This happened this week. #win. I found a new favorite resource for couponing and sale shopping called KrogerKrazy.

4.
I have an interview on Monday for a job with the Department of HR with the state of TN.  I'm 100% nervousexcitedanxioushopefuloverwhelmed. That's a feeling, right!?

 5.
Cheese alert: I'm so thankful for my husband. Sunday, we finished cleaning every inch of our apartment.  He took the doors off of our linnen closet and our utility closet and vacuumed them to remove all dust because our air filter was way yuck! I am thankful for his servant heart and his willingness to help me with chores when I need.

Friday!

Happy Friday! Did you have a good week? I sure hope so! Mine was one that was so busy that I hardly had time to blink before it was gone.  Thank goodness we have zero plans this weekend because I am reeeealllly looking forward to snuggling on the sofa all Saturday.

1.
T-mobile announced that streaming music would not impact your data usage in any way. Meaning iHeart, Pandora and Spotify were my new best friends. Can I just talk about how wonderful the Backstreet Boys radio is for like 2 seconds?!

2.
I got to spend some time with two of my three main men on Monday.  I went to Dad's and got to snuggle with this pup who faked sick the whole day so we would wait on him hand and foot.  I swear, he's too smart for his own good.

3.
We had our ladies painting class at church on Tuesday. I had never played with the watercolors, but it was so much fun.  My creation is nothing special compared to my ridiculously talented sister (who painted these deer above our bed), but it was a lot of fun.

4.
I went for a pedicure on Thursday.  It was so relaxing, but took forever.  I hadn't been in over a month, so you can imagine.  She took that potato peeler to my foot and kept recommending some soft foot oil. I felt so awful. So so awful. hahaha. Since I'm holding onto that last bit of summer, I went for Cajun shrimp toesies rather than the white tips.
5.
I made these chicken fajitas on Tuesday (Sorry for not having a picture! Jackson had gotten into them before I got a chance) and they were SO good. I highly recommend this recipe.  If you put them on high in the crockpot, they cook in 2.5 hours. So it's one of the quicker slow cooker meals!

I hope you all had a great week as well! What do you have planned for the weekend?!

Friday!

Fridays have become the day to dread at work because I have to substitute for the secretary.
Not only do I have untouched piles of work on my own desk that can't come to the front desk, but it's too quiet and the day drags.

But hey, I get Monday off, so here's to the (almost) weekend!

1.
Monday, I went and spent the day with my parents and my sister, and this furball. I could spend all day playing with him, walking him, and snuggling with him.

2.
I've been in the serious need for shirts lately.  I wear the same few shirts and dresses to work every week, and it's so boring.  I saved 40% off (use code JU40 on all first time orders) of my ThredUP order this week which saved me $40. Win!
These are some of my absolute favorites!
(1)(2)(3)(4)(5)(6)

3.
We are working on planning our 4th of July weekend, and we're torn between a staycation which would include seeing the fireworks in downtown Nashville and going camping or on another honey trip.  For the last few years we've done honey trips on that weekend, so I'm excited to finally be planning something.

4.
Jersey Boys comes out today!!! Tickets to this movie ended up being my gift to Dad for Father's Day.  We're old souls in the Morgan family, and we really enjoy belting "Who Loves You" and "Walk Like A Man".  We're going to wait for the crowd to die down a tad so we can be in a smaller audience in case we accidentally start singing!

5.
I got this beautiful monogrammed bracelet! I've been looking everywhere for one that didn't cost an arm and a leg!! Thanks Jane.com

Boomer's Story

If you're here because you found me there (there being the old blog that shall not be named), you know my love for my sweet canine, Boomer.
Boomerang.
Boomerbear.
Boomster.
Boomy.
Boom.
BoomyWoomy.
Dang Dog.
My sweet brown eyed boy.

Tolerator of all nicknames, good and bad.  Cuddler.  Hider of dog treats he doesn't like, especially when I bring them home from trips. Lover of Cheese. Foot warmer. My Boomer is a rescue. Not from a shelter, from a neighborhood family. Here's his story.

I came home on a Friday in March 2011 and got out of my car. I saw this dog running in our back yard. He started to run away from me, so I made a kissy noise for him to come to me. He came right over. I called dad and said, "I know that when Lassie is in your yard, Timmy is in the well, but what about Benji?"
I took this picture to send to him:
I fell in love.

Dad's one rule was "don't feed him." so of course, all I had to say to that was "oops." because I had already treated the pup to some bologna. He was matted, dirty, smelly, and had a cold. The night before had been a huge storm.
Weeks later, after we had let him in the house, made him our own, and named him Boomer, Dad was out walking him and ran into a lady who said, "oh, Cody! you look wonderful!" and Boomer ran right to her. It was the next door neighbor of Cody's Boomer's former owner. She said that they used to tie him to trees, leave him outside with no food and water, leave him outside to freeze when it would snow.

Dad decided then that if the old owners came for him, Dad was going to fight tooth and nail because Boomer was ours. By this point, we had noticed Boomer had high anxiety - he was always biting on himself, chewing, biting his nails, scratching, etc. Come to find out, our baby has PTSD. You're right - the thing that military members come home with.

Dad ran into Boomer's owner a few weeks after that and the owner gladly said, "Keep him. He looks happy."

So that's the story of our sweet rescue, Boomer.
He is an amazing dog and we love him with all of our hearts.
It breaks my heart that I had to leave him with my parents when we got married, but I know he loves Dad, and Dad loves him.  The boys have to stick together.  :)

High Five for Five on Friday!

I had a nightmare last night that we skipped the weekend and went from Thursday to Monday.
Needless to say, I'm so thankful for a Friday and a weekend!

;)

1.
Monday, I went to the DMV and got my new license with my new name.  Can we just talk about how much my face has changed since I was 18? Four years have not been kind to me! Anyway, it is so weird to see my license with my new last name on it. And believe it or not, it took me longer to get to the DMV than it did to wait in line!! And the lady was pleasant. All around win, if you ask me!

2.
Tuesday, I got to celebrate my sweet Boomer's Adoption Day. Yes, I'm that person and I'm not sorry. He came to us three years ago after a big big storm and we adopted him after I accidentally-on-purpose fed him and he wouldn't go away.  The top left picture shows what he looked like when he came to us.  He was matted, yucky, and timid.  We came to learn that he had been abused and neglected before he came to us.  His story is soon to come, I promise. :)

3.
My sweet husband has been blessed to be able to go in to work early twice this week. Sure, he has to get up early early, but he is off work and home when I get there.  I loved spending afternoons with him this week.  I may have gotten a little too used to it, though, because knowing that today he's working until 7 just stinks.

4.
My sister and I went to see Sister Act at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center.  I wasn't really looking forward to it, but the play was GREAT! All of them had incredible voices and it was hilarious.  We had a great sister night until I twisted my ankle on my stupid wedges and bit the street with my knee. Owwie.  We're having a funeral for my favorite pair of dress pants later this week.

5.
I'm working on getting wedding picture prints ordered to frame and hang.  I can't wait to have them hanging in our home!! :)
