Five {great buys} on Friday

Lately, I've made some great purchases. Here are my five favorites
1.
Have you been to Walmart lately? No? You're missing out. They have some of the cutest dresses and blouses I've seen in a while. Here are some of the ones I bought recently. Most of them can be cardigan-ed for fall. ;)

2.
We got an HHGregg gift card for $100 when we bought our Washer and Dryer.  I was desperately needing a new pillow. So... since our gift card was about to expire anyway, I scored this amazing pillow.
3.
My new planner came on Friday. I bought the same one that I had last year from SHPplanners. I can't wait to start my list making routine with the new and improved version of this year's planner.

4.
My latest ThredUp haul was humble, but exciting. I needed some new khaki and white shorts, and the tops and dress were bonus.

5.
I bought our Championship game t-shirts. I actually bought UNC Champion shirts, but, you know, because I went and got my heart broken by that game, I got these as collateral.

That Time we Bought our Groceries Online

A Kroger in Nashville has started "Click List" which is their online grocery shopping.
Score, right? You go online, add anything and everything you need to your list. You schedule your pickup and they give you a rough price of every item on your list.

Pros:
You can schedule pickup for a time that is convenient for you.
We can't shop hungry and end up with five packs of Oreos.
We don't waste money on last minute "Oh I need that because I saw it" things.
You can add forgotten items up until midnight of the night before you pickup.

When you get there, you press the button like at Sonic, tell them your name, and they ask if you have paper coupons and how you're paying.  They bring your groceries and the iPad for you to pay.

After comparing the prices, I was charged about $5 over what was quoted on the printout you get after you finalize your cart. I was given an organic item which is about $1 more per pound, I was given a different weight, different lean percentage meat which was more than $1 extra.  All in all, it was fun, but I probably won't  be doing it again.  I love our Kroger store and really enjoy grocery shopping.

Tax Free Weekend!

Happy Friday, friends!
I hope you all have awesome weekends planned. I plan on living on the couch with DayQuil trying to kick my newly acquired crud.
While I'm not couch living, I will be shopping Tax Free weekend (and sales)!
Here are my top 5 things on my list for this weekend:

New Khakis for Jackson. This was my steal
last year and he has lived in them, so I need to grab
a couple more pairs this year
This dress is so simple and cute
and is something I need in my
closet. It will be cute for work and
weekend plans!
These jeans from JCPenney will hopefully
replace the poor old ones Jackson has. They fit
him perfectly, and I'm hoping these will, too!
This dress is the perfect summer to
fall transition dress! I love the block
of color at the bottom!!
I need new jeans something fierce.  I feel like all of
my jeans are skinny jeans, so I'm on the hunt for the
perfect pair of boot cut jeans!

Not pictured: the obligatory undershirts, underwear, and socks.  ;)
I hope all of you Tennessee folk enjoy the shopping weekend, and the rest of you have a great weekend as well!

Friday!

Is it really Friday? I thought Wednesday was Thursday all day long.
I thought yesterday was Friday all day long.
I just really wanted the end of this week to be here.

1.
Our house hunt is finally on for real. As in, working with a realtor to find our home. Once we realized how much our rent is going up to and how much it will be if we live in any other apartment even close to Nashville, we decided it's pointless not to go ahead and get something that will at least do some good for us, too. It helps that the realtor is a friend and knows what he's looking for. I'm just going to leave these hardwood floors riiiight here....

2.
Downloaded Periscope this week. Since doing so, I have watched a kitten in Germany, been taken on a tour in Hawaii, and watched John Mayer play fetch with his dog.

3.
I'm in Season 6 of One Tree Hill - why did no one warn me about the feels?! Seriously.

4.
We had VBS this week which was exhausting to say the least. It was a whole lot of fun, though, so it was 100% worth it.  Jackson was in all of the skits which totally put him in his element. It was great.

5.
My allergies are kicking butt today. Thanks, Nashville. Thanks.

Here's to another weekend full of plans and no sleep. Praying for a tiny nap here sometime soon.

Jane Gets Me Again

Last week, Jane was on point. Well, there were a lot of places that were on point and cost me oodles last week.

These adorable monogrammed earrings from the Navy Knot were only $6.95

I've been searching for a black chevron car trash bag because it will match my "On The Stroll" Thirty one bag that I use in the back of my SUV for now. ;)
Found it!!

I always struggle to find something creative and special for my mom for Mother's Day. I found this adorable bird's nest necklace that I could pick how many "eggs" were in the nest.

My nana is the sweetest woman in the world, and Mother's Day shopping for her is among my favorite things. As kids, she used to sing this song to us, so it was a perfect find on Jane!

I also bought my new planner and spent $75 at Thred UP because they had 20% off your whole order. I'm a sucker for good deals and expiring coupon codes.

That Time of Year

Around this time every year, I start planner shopping.  Academic planners usually run July-June, so April gives me enough time to get a plan or get something ordered.

Last year, I ordered the PlumPaper Family planner. I have loved using it, and it has kept my newlywed brain organized.  My favorite part is that it lets you name your sections.  I have two for me, two for Jackson, one for dinner plans, one for housework, and a blank one at the bottom just because I ran out of ideas.  My biggest problem with this planner is that I have wasted space.  Jackson never does anything that needs to be noted in my planner. Usually a game of golf is as good as it gets.  That's two whole sections wasted.  What's better? I have nothing to fill them with this go-around.

I typed in 2015 weekly planners to Etsy thinking I'd have to find something I liked.  I stumbled upon SHPplanners.  I ordered this gorgeous cover for mine and had it personalized.  The vertical layout is perfect for my list making heart! Plus, it doesn't kill the bank like many planners I've seen out there.

Has anyone ever used SHPplanners before? I'd love to hear what you think!!

Friday!!

Our week has been a little bit of a roller coaster! Parts of it have been really awesome, parts of it have really not been awesome. Jackson's been in Memphis for work, so I've been a little antsy and missing him.  But hey, that's life, right? So at the risk of sounding too "TGIF"-ish, here are the best parts of our week!
1.
We got to spend quality time with our sister-in-love, Jackson's parents, and this sweet gal.
2.
We scored $35 in free groceries for using our credit card for rewards!
3.
It snowed. Again. But we got some pretty adorable visitors. Well, what I assume were adorable visitors. All they left were these raccoon-y footprints.

4.
While at Dad's this week, I found my label maker in my sister's room. Win. Everything may now have been labeled in our home thanks to my snow day off.
5.
I say I should have a day off of work every week. All of the laundry is done, meals are planned for two weeks, the bathroom sparkles, the kitchen smells like lemony heaven, and I watched all of the Harry Potters... again...! :)

Friday!

Our week has been less than eventful.
Being iced in for two days straight didn't help anything.
But hey, there were enough perks to make a well-rounded week
1.
As mentioned, I may have done a lot of online shopping while cooped up.
1-5 were ThredUP gold; 6 and 7 were Target finds!!
2.
A little Baby Step 1 and 2 win: After using our tax return to pay a huge chunk of Jackson's tools, We paid off the credit card and were finally able to sock back some money for our savings!! There's no better feeling than seeing more than $26 in your savings account.
3.
My most favorite part of this week was getting to spend some quality time with my groom.  He took Monday and Tuesday and we stayed home, watched movies, and had fun. It was good for our marriag to have a staycation away from the busy work week

4.
I've been making an effort to meet some new bloggers lately. I love networking and have found some great blogs recently. Check out the "Blogs I Love" for updates!
5.
Can we talk about How to get Away With Murder? It's like my blood pressure is sky high through the whole episode. If you haven't watched it, you're missing out.

20 Things to do When You're Iced in for Days

I'm sure those of you who live in the south-ish have felt the woes of Icemageddon that hit early
Monday morning.  I was already out for Presidents' Day, but was stuck home on Tuesday. Jackson was stuck home on Monday (without pay! Yay!) and Tuesday.
How in the world did we pass time in 631 square feet for days?!
Here, let me tell you.
Watched Horns on Netflix (totally weird, but great movie)
Pretended we're figure skaters on the ice outside
Did all of our laundry
Painted my fingernails and toenails. Twice.
Scraped all the ice off of both of our cars.
Went through clothes and gave away what I didn't wear
Did a lot of online shopping
Painted with my Valentines watercolors
Organized every drawer in our home
Uploaded the rest of all of my pictures to Shutterfly
Cleaned out the pantry
Fed the birds bread from our balcony
Took pictures of all of the ice around our complex
Caught up on all of our shows like How to get Away With Murder and Better Call Saul
Cooked dinner together
Searched for haircuts on Pinterest and decided on one
Ordered the cutest ankle boots
... and a really cute dress
Cleaned every appliance in the kitchen
Made a list of things to put in a care box for my best friend.
All in all, I realized being stuck is what you make it.  How have you all fared this winter weather?!
