Weekending

We are in the single digits of weekend before Little Man joins us, so I'm caught between having a trillion things to do and wanting to veg out on the couch.
Saturday, Jackson left at about 4AM to go to the duck blind for one last round of duck hunting.  Since he had made those plans a week or so ago, it gave me time to make an extensive cleaning checklist.  I knew I would have to take breaks and rest during my cleaning spurts, so I did things like make the curtain to go on the window in Remington's room, watched The Visit (complete letdown), and spent time searching and scrolling through the topic "Baby Boy" on Pinterest. All laundry is done, there are a million boxes for the yard sale this summer, and a lot of bags of clothes to take to Goodwill. I'm a happy mama.
Sunday, we had our maternity pictures taken. It was so so cold. We spent about an hour and got a handful of adorable shots.  More of those to come later ;)

Sunday night was spent on the sofa in our comfiest clothes, napping and watching TV.

Life. Is. Good.

Weekending

We had such a full fun weekend that was way overdue for my quality tank to refill.

Friday night, I surprised Jackson, built a fort, and surprised him with a bowling and arcade date.

Saturday morning, we got up early and went to Nolensville to shop at some of the antique shops. We went in one of my favorites and there was a table set with a 12 piece place setting of China. I have been collecting pieces here and there of my Kate Spade china, but it is so expensive that it'd never be a complete 12 piece set for less than $1,000. Jackson was insistent that I get it, so I bargained that he would use it for both my birthday and part of Christmas. It's absolutely beautiful, and I would have kicked myself for not getting it.

We also bought my sister an adorable pillow with a cow on it for Christmas. She's obsessed with cows, so she will love it.

Sunday, we went to church, had lunch at his mama's house, and headed to the park for Family Fun night. We then headed home to watch the Walking Dead. HOLY MESS! I cried.

Our Snowy Weekend

I woke up first thing on Friday to see the Nashville traffic map completely red.  I texted the lady that has been training me at work and she said to give it until 7:30 because she knew they would close the office.  Sure enough, 6:50 rolled around and the text went out to say that the office was closed. So, Jackson got some rest because he was still going to try to make it to work since he lives the closest of all of his coworkers.  We walked down to the entrance and there were cars galore spinning out, getting stuck, etc.  So, he called out and we stayed home. :)

Saturday I was supposed to go to a Baby Brunch and my Sister-In-Law's birthday dinner... yeah... neither of those were going to happen after everything refroze Friday night. So we had Jackson's best man, Byron, come over with his sister and friend.  He brought a 90's style sled and a snowboard and we spent hours outside. We walked to our favorite Mexican restaurant, ate, and walked back.  Terrible idea, as we were all so full and tired. So we came back, finished watching Bring It On, started watching the 10th Anniversary of High School Musical (see also, what the mess?!).  We went back out until the sun set and then were hungry again. Go figure that nothing was delivering, so we drove about a mile to get Little Caesar's and came home to play Settlers of Catan.

Sunday, church was rescheduled until 2, but we live about 30 minutes away and our apartment entrance was still ice, so we stayed put and stayed warm.  We slept in, snuggled, and did a little cleaning.

I hope your snow days were fun and safe! :)

Weekending

Good Monday morning, friends.  It's cold and rainy here in Nashville today, so it was extra difficult to get out of bed this morning.

Our weekend was the bomb dot com. Too bad I don't have many pictures.

Friday night, we cut the seeds out of our little decoration pumpkins. They're still sitting uncooked on a baking sheet.  Whoops.  We ran and grabbed Zaxby's for dinner because the can-opener broke earlier in the week and I couldn't open the cans I needed to make dinner.  Double Whoops. We came home and caught up on Code Black and had a restful night in.

Saturday, Jackson went with Heath up to Gainesboro to visit the youth that were on a retreat.  They had a great time full of sweetheart kickball, wink, and football.  I went to Dad's and had some deep couch sitting all day long.  Boomer isn't doing too hot lately, so I hung with him most of the day.

Funny story - all Jackson wants for Christmas is an Xbox One.  His 360 is d-e-a-d dead. Way dead.  So I told him any Christmas money he gets we can use to buy one. Jackson's brother (who recently started working at GameStop again) called me to inform me that they had a rockin' deal right now that blows black Friday deals out of the park and would save us almost $200 not counting his trade-ins.  So we packed everything up and took it across town to trade it in.  They gave us $77 for everything (including games, all of my Disney infinity characters, his xbox and controllers). All in all, it only cost right over $200, so we went ahead with the promise that any Christmas money pays it off.

After GameStop, we went to Tom & Chee which always has the best grilled cheeses ever. Ever. Then we went grocery shopping and home to rest.

Sunday was busy busy for us.  We went to church, grabbed oil and a filter for my car (on a gift card! What up free oil change!) and then to Lifegroup.  Then we went home, watched the Titans win, changed my oil, and then rested for 2.5 seconds before going back across town for a fire.

I hope all of your weekends were wonderful and full of life!! Let's kick this week in the rear!

Weekending

Our weekend was jam packed, but what's new for us?
Friday night, we ate dinner and our best friends came over and we went to Steak&Shake. Chocolate milkshake and french fries, please and thanks.  :) We came home and I fell asleep (oops) and woke up and we all piled in our bed to sleep.
Saturday morning, we all ventured across the intersection to Dunkin and came back for some bestie bonding time. Jackson left to go sport shooting with some friends. I got up, ran to the grocery, came home, booked the cabin for Hamlin's bachelorette party in March, and hung our gallery wall.
We had our annual hayride Saturday night. It has for sure fizzled since I started going six years ago. The teens are too cool for it and the littles are too scared for it.
Sunday, I went to see Hamlin's new house and we went to pick out bridesmaids dresses.
We found a really pretty one that will (hopefully) flatter everyone.
(via)

Sunday night, we stayed out and watched Hocus Pocus with some friends and came home and went to bed. Here's to my last Monday off of work and having nothing planned. I hope your weekends were just as great!

Weekending!

Happy Monday morning, friends!

As you read this, I'm still snoozing because having Mondays off work means no alarm. (insert praise hands here).

Friday, I worked like normal.  Note: When someone asks you if you want to go to a Train concert because they were given tickets? you accept gladly. Friday night I got to see Train, the Fray, and Matt Nathanson do their thing! It was a great concert!

Saturday, we awoke rather early to head to the church to set up for vacation bible school.  It was a day of skits, decorations, and cutting out lesson plans and buletin board letters. Saturday evening, we joined my parents and sister (who is finally back from her London adventure) for a Mexican date. My best friend and her husband needed to come do laundry, so while they did, we played games. There's a reason this was so funny.

Sunday, we had church, lunch, and two minutes to breathe before we were back to church for Vacation Bible School.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!!

Weekending

My quality time tank is overflowing this rainy Monday.  I had a whole weekend with my sweet husband (mostly) to myself.  Some weekends all I need is some quality time and a good nap to consider it successful.

Friday afternoon, I went to my Dad's after work.  Jackson and I had dinner and then went to the grocery.  We're so edgy... grocery shopping on a Friday night. haha.

Saturday morning, we took Luna to the vet to get her shots.  We took her in, they weighed her and took her back to run her tests. The vet brought her back and said she had some news. "Luna's a boy!!" We were mortified. haha. So, now we have Feeny. :)

We went to my aunt's for lunch because my Grandmother was in town from Branson. On the way home, we stopped at T-mobile to get Jackson his upgrade.  He went with the Iphone 6 plus.  IT IS GIGANTIC.  I'm torn between the Galaxy 6 or the iPhone 6.  We went home and cleaned a bit to prepare for Sunday and turned in early.

Sunday, we got up, went to church, and had Jackson's parents over for lunch and so they could meet Feeny.

Sunday included the best Sunday nap and church, followed by a fire. It's been so long since we could do a fire because it's been so doggone hot.

Happy four day week to all!

Little Bit of Learning; Whole Lot of Loving

I'm a Type A... about everything. Trips. Money. Our next five years. You name it, I plan it.
That's my biggest fault, honestly.  I have a hart time going with the flow, having fun, and being spontaneous.  It keeps me from doing a lot
Friday night, Jackson got together with the kids from church and our new youth minister and had a nerf gun war.  He texted me from Target and asked if he could buy a new nerf gun.  I was typing out a "can't you use the one you have?" and realized that he is always working so hard and deserved it.  So I did some thinking and sent him something I've taken our whole marriage to learn... "Sometimes it's okay to throw caution to the wind and buy a new nerf gun.  Or take a trip.  It's okay to be a little reckless sometimes.  We are managing just fine. " I have learned that life is way too short to make money a priority... and planning financially down to a T leaves little room for fun. He called me and told me how proud he was of me and how much he loves me.  I thanked him for being so patient while I learned that huge lesson.
This brings me to our awesome weekend.  Last week , I was itching to get away.  Monday, I sent Jackson "Holiday World?!" and that was that. We left about 7:30 Saturday morning, hit Indiana about 10 and spent six hours or so in the park.  Lines were short because kids are still in school.  We rode the new Thunderbird three whole times! The commercials don't even get close to doing it justice.
Here's our photo dump of our day.

I think at this point he said "Say I've been good this year!" and neither of us said anything and he goes "oh, silent night, eh?"

I hope you're all having a wonderful weekend with family and friends celebrating those of our military who have given their all so that we may be free!

Weekending

Our weekend was full and so busy and 95% of it was great.

Friday afternoon I went to Dads to fall in love with a furball.  Jackson agreed to let us keep this one!!
Friday night, Jackson and I went and ate at cracker barrel.
We came home, watched Pitch Perfect, and turned in early.

Saturday morning, we were up with the sun.  We went to the grocery, got gas, and got Taco Bell for breakfast all before 10AM.  Also, we are not breakfast defectors. blehh.
We then got ready to go meet my parents and Nana for Mother's Day late lunch at Cheddars.
Saturday night, we watched Pitch Perfect again, and What to Expect when You're Expecting, and we went to bed.

Sunday, we got up for church, went to his mama's for Mother's Day lunch, caught the grill on fire, had yummy steaks, and went to Lowes to pick out flowers for our balcony.  I've been itching to plant something, and we had a gift card... so what better day!? We bought beautiful Lillies and Impatiens to plant!
After planting the flowers we went to church and then Blue Coast for dinner.. mmm. :)

I can't wait to read about your Mother's Day weekends.

How to Defunk

Our weekend could not have come at a better time.
I was in a funk last week.
Work was okay, our week was okay, but everything was just okay.  Nothing felt great!
Our weekend was such a blessing and was much needed.
Too bad I have zero pictures.

Friday, I went and got my wisdom tooth stitches out.
My appointment was at 8 and I was done by 7:55, so I decided to stop at Dunkin' on my way.
Work on Friday was okay.  I got home, finished packing, and we set out on our retreat.
We got there at 7ish and decompressed.  We sat around a fire until 10 or so and then went to bed.

Saturday morning was cold up in Adams.
We woke up and ate breakfast.
We then hiked down to the lake for some fishing and canoeing.  I caught a whopping zero fish, but it was fun to just relax for a while.  We had a good, long day with lots of lounging and sunshine.
The rain held off until about 9:45 Saturday night which was a HUGE blessing.  We expected it all day and only had 30 minutes or so.

Sunday, we got up and had breakfast.  We then had a short devotional and packed up to go home.
We got home about 2:00; Jackson laid down and started snoring immediately.  He was so tired.
I worked on some laundry, then laid down at about 4 and slept until 5:30.

Note to self: it's okay to rest and relax on your weekends - in fact, it's good for you.

Weekending!

Our weekend was such a busy one. Like I'm sitting at my desk about to fall asleep. Happy Monday to all, and to all, a four day week.

Friday night, the plan was to go get dinner, do groceries, and come home to rest.  What actually happened was I got in a funk about not having time to rest, we sat in the car talking for an hour, got groceries, and ordered pizza.

Saturday, I woke up and went to decorate the gym for the Golden Age Banquet. The theme was the Wonderful World of Disney. So Naturally.....

Jackson dressed up like Goofy, and Lou dressed up like Elsa.  It was great!

Sunday was also busy.  Church, lunch, hanging with Jackson's parents, going home to clean and relax, going back to church and having a bonfire until 10:30.

I hope your weekend was just as full and wonderful!!

Weekending!

Our weekend was one for the books for sure, mostly thanks to the weather I hated so much last week!
I got off work early on Friday because of the incoming snow. It didn't look bad, so I decided to go to Dad's.  Bad call. I got most of the way there before I started sliding on the ice that hadn't melted.  The traction control in my new car (and this being the first winter I've had it) scared me to death.  It starting beeping and flashing and my car came to a complete stop. I finally found the clear road again and got all the way to Dad's before getting stuck in the ice on their street. My car wouldn't drive, it wouldn't reverse, and it was awful. I finally found the yard and was able to park there. I was there for an hour or so and for some reason I decided to look out the window. I couldn't tell where there was street and where the ice was, so I went ahead and came home before it got worse. Jackson's best man came over and we decided to sled down our awesome hills in our apartment complex.
You can see our tracks from our sledding.
Look how small the jungle gym is for reference on how high up we were.
Aside from the awesome bruise on my hip and hitting a bump that made me flip and fall on my head (and Jackson's awful back pain), it was the coolest thing I've ever done! Jackson and Byron got some pretty awesome air, too.  Byron got stuck here because of the ice and snow, so he stayed over! Can we just talk about how much more fun sleepovers are when you're adults and it's your best friend? They're the bomb, in case you've never tried it.
Saturday, I got up early because it was Byron's birthday and made bacon, omelettes, and cinnamon rolls! He stayed long enough to watch the Vanderbilt basketball game which was enough time for the rain to turn the ice to sludge.  I ventured out to the grocery after he left because we were out of everything (milk, eggs, bread... snow essentials, you know!). I also ran into my first set of Girl Scouts and scored some Trefoils. After being caught in a tsunami, I made it home to watch Despicable Me and Wreck It Ralph.
Sunday, church was delayed because the parking lot was still an ice rink. We went to church at 11, went to Jackson's parents' house, then came home. We scored free pizza for dinner, and let's be real, that's the best kind of pizza. We settled in to watch The Walking Dead and The Oscars and then turned in early.

Schools are out again today, so I'm rolling into work late (because it's our company policy... not because I have little'ns). Here's to kicking this week in the butt!

Rainy Days and Mondays

Our weekend was so busy. Like, it's Monday and my head is on my desk because I'm in a state of exhaustion I've never been in before. I think.

Friday, we worked and came home to a date night. Penn Station and a little Breaking Bad... great date night if I do say so myself.

Saturday, I spent my day at my Daddy's house playing with all of my pets that I left behind.

Meanwhile, Jackson was sitting in a field with a gun doing what he loves to do.

Saturday evening, we had a date with one of my best friends from high school at Rosepepper.

Sunday, we churched, we ate, we grocery shopped, we ate some more, we watched the Golden Globes, and we slept. Now it is Monday, it's raining, and I feel like everyone is ready to rip everyone's head off.  Welcome back, eh?

Thanksgiving 2014

Our Thanksgiving weekend was a long, busy weekend full of family and no rest!
Isn't that how that works, though? You have days off so you stay up too late? No? Just me? Cool.

Thursday, we had lunch/dinner with my mother's family.  Afterward, Dad, Mom, Cameron and I went to Walmart where Dad proceeded to almost get in a fight with a man who called my mother something not so nice.  I think Walmart is where Christmas Cheer goes to die.
I woke Jackson up early (8am) Friday morning to put up our Christmas decorations. Wife of the year, I know.  We have our Black and Gold Vandy tree up and decorated! Tree skirt is a work in progress.  If anyone knows where I can get a cute one under $20, I'd be grateful! Our favorite part was hanging The Ornament we bought on our Honeymoon! Waiting a whole ten months to hang it was torture!

Then we went to his family's Thanksgiving and ate our little hearts out all over again! We played almost an hour's worth of Uno, and then Jackson got tired which resulted in puppy snuggles:

Saturday, we did my Dad's family's Thanksgiving and played with my cousin's children.  There aren't any pictures of that, though, because we were too busy throwing children in the air and spilling coke on them. (oops.)

Also unpictured:
Getting hooked on the game "My Singing Monsters"
Watching all of the GREEK our hearts could handle
Catching up on The Walking Dead
Eating an entire bag of Rolos and Caramels
All of the awesome items I crossed off of our shopping list
Both of us being sick and piled up on the couch
All of the empty DayQuil packages on the counter

Fires, Family, and Football, oh my!

Our weekend seemed like a five day weekend! We spent so much time resting, so much time with friends and family, and so much time watching football.

Friday, Jackson and I came home, ate dinner, grocery shopped, and came home to spend some balcony time because it is really starting to feel like fall here in Nashville.

Saturday, I got up early thinking I would need to go help Dad wrangle cats to take to the Humane Society, but he decided against it, so we spent some time just laying in bed, resting and relaxing.  When we finally got up, I was all over the laundry, cleaning out things we didn't need/use anymore, and dishes. Oh, and watching the Vanderbilt game. It was good to finally just have some time to do things like that.  MTSU played WKU, and thankfully kicked butt.  Their spray paint on our horseshoe was enough to make me livid. Jackson's parents wanted to cook him a birthday dinner, so they made ribs, potatoes and beans, and we ate dinner with them.  We then had our first bonfire of the fall. We had a whole bunch in the spring, and a couple this summer, but it's finally fire weather.

Sunday, we got up and went to church, we had lifegroups, and I went to Jackson's Cousin's Babyshower.  It was so much fun! I love spending time with family!! We had a fire Sunday night, too, so my hair reeks of fire smell this morning.  It was so worth it, though.  We are living up this weather!

Weekend Update!

Our weekend was one that I was 100% invested in! I was able to take it all in, enjoy every second, and rest up completely.
I hope your weekend was much the same!

Friday afternoon, I went to Dad's, where we suffered the loss of one of the stray kittens.  We think he had pneumonia after one of the storms last week.  As awful as it was for me, I am glad he died in loving human hands.  I cried most of the night because of how traumatizing it was for me.  I don't care how old you are, you're never prepared for that kind of pain.

Friday night, I didn't feel like cooking at all, so we went to eat Mexican food and grocery shop.  We came home, watched some football, and turned in early.

Saturday was my sweet husband's birthday.  We got up at 10, ate cinnamon rolls for breakfast, and vegged out all day.  After opening some money-filled birthday cards, went to Academy Sports and bought Jackson his shotgun that we've been saving for!

We came home, got all dressed up, and went to the cheesecake factory for his birthday dinner. Thank goodness for giftcards!! Jackson got the orange chicken, and I had the BBQ Ranch chicken salad.  So. much. food!!

Sunday, we had birthday lunch with Jackson's parents and watched football all day. Oh, not to mention the visit to the urgent care clinic for what I thought was a spider bite.  Turns out, you can have allergic reactions to a mosquito?! #mylife

I hope you all had wonderful weekends!! I can't wait to read about them!!
