Friday!

  1. This week, I ordered our 2014 book from Shutterfly. I love recapping our year in book form.  From here on out, I will probably do chunks of years in each book or else we'll have one book per year, plus baby books, plus wedding and honeymoon books and not enough shelves to hold them all.  It's an obsession.  I just love Shutterfly in general.  I had 30 free 4x6 prints - hello new recipe cards (they're easier to write on with the matte finish)!

  2. I finally buckled down and bought some new jeans from ThredUP.  I hate paying more than $15 for a pair of jeans, but I was in a pickle because my favorite jeans were starting to show signs of rippage to come!!   I bought a really cute Ann Taylor T-shirt to go with them! ;)

3.  I am loving my job more than ever. Since my promotion, I do work that matters, work that is intriguing, and more work in one day than I used to do in a month. I am so thankful that I'm gaining experience and that my new daily set of tasks doesn't leave me wanting to sleep out of boredom.   4. I got to finally break out my ear warmers!! It hasn't been cold enough to wear it until now! It just so happened that I had the perfect scarf to go with it!

  5.  I may or may not have taken the huge plunge and made a bigger commitment than I'm ready for. I ordered business cards for my embroidery side of life.  I also may or may not have set up a website for all of my work

 

 

Life Lately

I know, I know, I'm back to slacking.  I didn't have any more Christmas posts in mind, and life isn't containing a whole lot more than work, home, monogramming, and sleeping.  So here are little chunks of our lives lately....   Roomie Christmas was great on Friday, full of laughs and Jeni's ice cream!  

 

Jackson's brother and his wife will be here this evening from Hawaii! They're spending two weeks here before he goes back to deployment and she starts back medical school.   There are monograms galore in our home.  I've pretty much been running my own little business this Christmas, and it's really exciting.  

I am in need of a haircut, but can't figure out what I want. I don't want any of my length taken off, but I want layers and my swoopy bangs. To the depths of pinterest I go!    I got to spend time with my sweet Nana this week decorating her tree and helping her get ready for Christmas next week. 

  We got some of my bridal portraits back, and I'm so so excited to get the rest!     Also, I have been a college graduate for a whole year... and I miss it so so much. :(   I started my promotion on Monday. I'm now an HR Generalist.  It's pretty much what I've been doing, except now I'm getting paid to do it. Score for the home team!    We are so addicted to this game called "Trivia Crack".... It is like trivial pursuit! It's so much fun to play without having to get out a board.   There are piles of laundry, stray shoes, and a sink full of dishes waiting on me this evening.  Tis the season for being too busy to do housework!!  

Friday!

Happy Friday!! I don't have five great things to share about my week, so this week, we'll be doing five things about my husband that I love.  I promise not to be too mushy gushy. Most of these will probably end up having little to do with him, so Happy More-Random-Than-Husband Friday   1.  I love what a simple man he is.  He doesn't need or ask for extravagant things or elaborate gifts. He doesn't ask for a big weekend vacation, rather, to go shooting guns on Monday for the holiday.  He is more than satisfied with a day of snuggling and a special dinner for his birthday.  He is 100% okay with Hamburger Helper when I'm tired, and rants about how wonderful it is.    2. An evening is an evening well spent if we have dinner, a good show/movie on TV, maybe an hour of dying laughing at some of our kids from church because we found their Vine channel (the one below made me die laughing... and crying...I couldn't figure out why. go watch her stuff), maybe some football (Seriously Titans and Vandy, neither of you could pull it together?!?) and good sleep.  This week, Jackson has been letting me sleep for a while when I fall asleep on the sofa because he knows I've been exhausted lately.  

3. He lets me order cards like these (no worries, they were free this week) and sign his name to them.  He never has any idea what they say (well, sometimes) so when people come to thank him, he nods and smiles a lot. It's really funny to watch. 

  4. (Mush&Gush alert!) I love his selflessness.  Wednesday, I was feeling a little awful and I fell asleep at 8 on the sofa.  Not only did he not bother me, but he ran the dishwasher and put up dinner and his laundry.  Can we just talk about how awesome that feels for a second? When you wake up at 12:35AM to go to bed and hear the dishwasher running, you just want to kiss your husband. However, the bed is calling your name, so you stumble into the bedroom and mumble a Thank You when he gets into bed.   5.  He has always been my biggest fan.  I found pictures like this yesterday from my Time Hop that said 7 years ago!(If you don't have that app, you need it!). It reminded me that for the last 10 years, he has been my cheerleader, without fail.  When I need it the most, he is there to tell me how wonderful I am and that I can do anything I set my mind to.

Whew! Is it just me or did anyone else's week fly, too?  I'm not complaining at all, but I know my blogging suffered.  I spent most of my workday yesterday catching up on reading your blogs! I missed so much fun! haha. Having to work Monday and being off Wednesday cut my week right down the middle, and I would be lying if I said I didn't love it.    1.  It is tax free weekend here in Nashville, and I plan to totally take advantage of it. I need some new work pants because mine are all worn out. Jackson could use some new dress pants, too, and I know he needs good socks for work. I will probably be hitting Kohls, JCPenney, and Target, Walmart for the socks, and who knows where else tomorrow morning while Jackson is at the Duck Blind Drawing!   2. I monogrammed the cutest backpack for a coworker's son who is starting Kindergarten next week!!Love how it turned out! The final product is so worth the struggle and strain I endured to get it in the hoop. My thumbs are in pain.

    3. I played in Home Goods for a while Wednesday when I was off work.  Boomer has had a hard time getting up and down on furniture, especially dad's bed, lately. So I found these steps! They were on clearance for $10. It said cat furniture, but I imagine they'll work just fine, right? 

    4. I finally updated our chalkboard this week. It's been a big black wall staring at me for weeks. I just felt uninspired and everything looked lame.

    5. I'm not going to lie. I had a week of wonderful hairdays and cute outfits. Some days I feel motivated, but this week it was every day! I can 100% guarantee it won't happen two weeks in a row. ;)

What a Weekend!

Since Mondays are somewhat rolled into my weekend, it is close to impossible to make a "Weekend Recap" post happen on Mondays.   So. Over the weekend here's what happened:   Friday afternoon and Saturday, I spent time with my dad! I missed that geezer more than anything.  Jackson worked more on my car all Saturday and we ran into a snag - one of my really important parts, my valve cover, was warped.  So that put us at a stand still.   So instead of him working into the wee hours of the evening, we enjoyed dinner with his parents, snuggles with Penny, and a video chat with his brother who is stationed with the Navy in Hawaii. 

 

Sunday, after church, we went to Pull-A-Part.  It's literally a junk yard full of cars, and you go in, pull the pieces you need, and pay per piece.  We got the piece for whichwe were going to pay $375 for a whopping $15! score. Jackson worked on my car for a bit, and then we headed to Taco Bell and the grocery store.  Am I the only one loving those Quesaritos?!

 

Monday, I had a lengthy list of to-dos.  I did all of our laundry, cleaned a lot, monogrammed blanket for an upcoming baby shower, watched Harry Potter, and enjoyed quiet time.  I was really proud at how well the blanket turned out! I had never tried applique before! Yes, those are old Thirty-One consultant swatches! ;)

Our Wedding: The Honeymoon

We had planned to spend our wedding night in our own apartment, for the first time as husband and wife. We didn't live together before marriage, so it was going to be special for us. Little did I know, my best friend and her fiance had bigger plans for us. They booked us a room at the Opryland Hotel. The place we had our first date. The place Jackson first asked me to be his girlfriend. The place we took our prom pictures as Nashville flooded in 2010. The place he asked me for forever.   Our room was beautiful. It overlooked the Cascades, and you could hear the waterfall from our room. They had gone in before us and sprinkled rose petals on our bed in an "H".   After we got settled and.. well.. you know... we realized we were starving. We hadn't gotten a bite to eat at our wedding. We had a to-go box of wedding cake, and so we decided to order room-service chicken tenders. There we were, I in lingerie and he in his wedding boxers, stuffing our faces with chicken and wedding cake. #notsorry We slept like rocks that night.   The next morning, we gathered our belongings, checked out of our hotel, and headed to his parents house to give them the key to our apartment. They were going to deliver our gifts, watch over it, etc. while we were gone.  On the way to our apartment to finish packing and gather our belongings, I realized I left my adorable veil panties and my actual veil in the bathroom of our hotel room!! So, the wonderful husband he was, he took me back to the hotel and ran back up to get them. We were finally on our way to our home to grab our bags and start the trek to Savannah, GA.    11:30am, we set out on an 8 hour (plus potty breaks) drive. The drive was beautiful.

  Our first night was booked in the Fairfield Marriott in middle of nowhere, Savannah. We got there and went to check in.  Well, they couldn't find our reservation. When they did, it was all my fault for not booking it correctly.  When we got to our room, the door was jammed, the curtain wouldn't close, the lamp didn't work, and there was a walmart dehumidifier in our room. WHAT!!? I was livid. We ate at Five Guys, sat outside (in February!!) and watched the fog roll in from the river.   The next day, we went to check in to our B&B, The East Bay Inn. Oh. My. Goodness. Our room was beautiful. The ceilings were forever high, it was bright, and old.

 We threw our stuff in our room and ran to play in the city. Right across from us was River Street, so we went for lunch at Dockside. Jackson had Shrimp and Grits and I had the best Ruben Sandwich of my life.  

   Then we did some shopping. We strolled up and down River Street, wandering in and out of shops and boutiques, art museums and vendor stands. We wandered into this place called Christmas on the River. We bought our very first Christmas tree ornament together:
