Fall Checklist!

This being our first Fall with Remy means that our to-do list has become more baby oriented than years prior, and I cannot wait!! Everything is going to be so much sweeter with a little to celebrate with!! It's so hard to think about this time last year - we didn't know if the little in my belly was Remington or Morgan, but we knew we loved him/her so so much! Life can change so so much in a year's time!!

I still can't quite manage to make myself get out to the cemetery, so no flowers were placed.  We were so busy, that Gingerbread house didn't happen, either. I also cheated a little in making our ornament for this year. I made it on Shutterfly instead of making a cute globe one like years past; it says "Joy! It's a Boy!" and has his name on the back of it:

It's so easy for us to forget about the rest of Winter after Christmas, but we have much to be done before Remington gets here!! 

Finish the nursery

Start purging clothes we don't wear or don't fit

Hang a bird feeder

Throw/attend a superbowl party

Make plans for a super fun (non-traveling) 3rd anniversary

Get all Thank You notes done no more than 2 weeks following each baby shower!

Spend lots of time snuggling

Our summer was b-u-s-y.  We only had a couple of weekends to ourselves to veg out on the sofa and do nothing.  Thus, the summer checklist went to the wayside.    Swim swim swim Find a place to move in October

Hey, more than half is good, right? Anyway, we're finally (unofficially) to the season that, in my book, is the best.  It's when snuggles are frequent, boots are a necessity, and life is just slower.

Go to Gatlinburg

We do a camping trip every few years to Gatlinburg, and this is the year!! I'm so so pumped!!

Pick our pumpkin from the pumpkin patch

Take fall pictures

Spend time outside

Have our second Friendsgiving

Plant Mums

Burn lots of fires

Decorate the inside and outside

Go to a football game

Make Chili

 

 

Spring Checklist!

 Our Winter was busy, then came to a complete halt for the ice nonsense that tore through Nashville.  I'd be lying if I said I didn't love every moment of it, though. It was full of cuddles, movies, coffee and hot cocoa, sweaters and boots, and best friend time.   Here's how we did on our Winter Checklist! Almost all of them were crossed off, and the one that should have been a given... well... we just got too busy. We didn't realize we hadn't seen the lights at Opryland until we drove past and they were taking them down. It was tragic and I may have cried ugly tears:   Put up our tree and decorate it the day after Thanksgiving Make our Traditions Lists Go see the Opryland Christmas lights on December 23rd Build a Gingerbread House Get Matching Pajamas for Christmas Eve wearing! Go to the Jellystone Christmas Drive-Through Light Show Slow Down and Enjoy Take More Pictures Invest in Christmas Decor   
  So, without further adieu, our spring checklist (maybe if my list is shorter I'll cross everything off):
Camp the Crap out of Spring As mentioned in a thousand lists before, we have an awesome tent and I love camping. I want to camp with Jackson, make hobo packs for dinner over a campfire, gaze at stars and maybe fish a bit.
Spring Cleaning! I plan to deep clean our kitchen, our bedroom, our bathroom, purge everything we don't use or need, and declutter our lives! 
Visit the Nashville Farmers' Market We have lived here our whole lives and have never been to the Farmers' Market. I can't wait to wake up early on a Saturday and go! 
Spend Time Outside Jackson loves frisbee, football, and being outside. How much fun would it be to go to the park, throw a frisbee, fly a kite, feed the ducks, etc.?  I also plan to go to the Zoo and spend time hammock-ing.
Dye Easter Eggs We haven't done this since our Senior Year of High School. We were tiny babies. It was so much fun!

Take More Pictures I can't wait to see the green and flowers and sun! It's my goal, while spending more time outside and doing fun things, to take pictures to document it! I've been okay at it lately, so let's hope I can keep up as life gets busy!  

Fall Checklist

Happy first day of fall (one day late)!!! We were pretty productive with our checklist this summer! We got most of the stuff on the list done, weather permitting. Fall is my favorite season for many many reasons.  There is so much to do and see during fall! Here's our fall checklist! Go camping We have a beautiful tent still collecting dust. We didn't cross this off of our Summer list, unfortunately.  It's my goal to go camping at least once during the fall!   Decorate!! I am the festive type.  I enjoy leaf garland and pumpkins galore.  Thus, it is a goal to stock up on fall décor that can be used for years to come!   Go to a pumpkin patch When my sister and I were kids, we went to the pumpkin patch annually with school or daycare or whatever to pick out pumpkins! I want this to be a family tradition that we carry into the lives of our children.  and with those pumpkins....   Carve Pumpkins Is any fall complete without a pumpkin carving? That's like Easter without an egg dying kit!   Take fall pictures Because we have a tripod, this will be easy and we won't have to pay big bucks for a photographer!! Now all we have to do is buy plaid for pictures!! ;)   Make soup or chili every week I am a soup fan, but this summer was way too hot for soup... even with summer-ish veggies.  We kicked this one off last night with killer potato bacon soup!! Recipe to come, I promise! It was one I got for our tool and recipe shower last November.    Go to the zoo Jackson and I haven't been to the zoo since 2012.  It's been for-ev-er and we are overdue for a visit.  Plus, we'll have nice weather and pretty leaves!   Bonfires This one is inevitable. We are always at the Pickards' around the fire pit.   Friendsgiving I am declaring a mandatory Friendsgiving this year! We don't get a whole lot of time to spend with our best friends, so any chance we get to get together is perfect! Why not add food and games and a round of "I'm thankful for...."     What are your fall goals!?  

Summer Checklist

At the beginning of July, I wrote a post about goals I had for this summer. Our first summer as a married couple flew. We were so busy and our summer was full of sharing life with friends and family. Let's see how we did with the checklist.    Do my bridal portraits Hey! Our photographer is working on location scouting this week! I deserve to cross that off for the effort I put into it! Hopefully we will actually do them this fall! Add a planter box to our deck This one didn't really get crossed off, but I did change my mind. I bought two beautiful planters to put on our balcony to plant some fall flowers. Spend a whole Saturday at the pool This one didn't really get crossed off either. Being the pasty babies we are, whole days at the pool were a bad call anyway. We went for a whole bunch of evening swims, so it's kinda the same. Put the phones down We're still not 100% at the point where we can put phones down the second we get home and not touch them, but we're at 55%. Clash of Clans is no longer a source of clashing in our home. Thank goodness. Go camping It was way too daggum hot Spend smarter and say no We have started spending smarter. On every payday, we take what we have in the "play money" budget and put it into a "splurge" savings for things like hunting supplies and new boots. That way it doesn't hurt our daily spending or our savings. Spend time outside Again, I say, it was way too daggum hot. Declutter for every one box we clear out, I feel like five more appear Read and pray more together there is not an excuse to justify not crossing this one off the list, so we'll just hope to try better this fall.     How did your summer checklists come along!?
